The riad is one of the most characteristic types of accommodation in Morocco. It is a small building<\/strong> that, in the past, functioned as a community of neighbors, composed of several family homes, all organized around an inner courtyard<\/strong>. This is the most characteristic element of the riad, as it usually has a refreshing water fountain, vegetation and typical Arab decoration<\/strong>, such as tiles, plaster reliefs and wooden beams. <\/p>\n\n

Between the Atlas and the Sahara there are valleys such as the Draa or the Dades, known for forming the Route of the Thousand Kasbahs, which are ancient adobe castles built by the Berbers <\/strong>in order to protect the caravan routes. Some of them were residences of powerful families and many have been rehabilitated as luxury accommodations. Others, on the other hand, have been built from scratch as hotel-kasbah, but maintaining the materials and the typical taste of the region. <\/p>\n\n

Luxury accommodations in Morocco include coastal resorts, consisting of a large building with premium rooms, a swimming pool, and numerous high-end common areas<\/strong> such as a gym, massage room, etc. All of this, just a few meters from the beach. Therefore, they are common in destinations like Agadir<\/a>, Taghazout, Al Hoceima, or Saidia, where people travel with the intention of spending a relaxing and stress-free vacation. <\/p>\n\n

Historic hotels in iconic cities<\/h2>\n\n

Lovers of historic and charming accommodations have an appointment with some of the country’s legendary hotels. For example, in Tangier<\/strong>, a city that in the 20th century was an International Zone and a meeting point for intellectuals, diplomats and other foreign personalities. The famous Continental Hotel and the Minzah<\/strong> are located here. And not far from here, in Tetouan<\/strong>, are located prestigious hotels used at the time of the Spanish Protectorate, such as the Ville Josephine<\/strong>.
