Traveling to Morocco from the United States is something that thousands of tourists do every year, due to the traveler impetus of many American citizens and the undeniable interest in this North African country. Therefore, if you are thinking of following in the footsteps of other compatriots like you, in this post we give you the basic information you need to know to organize your trip.
Flights from the United States to Morocco
One of the factors that drive many tourists to travel to Morocco from the United States is the existence of good air connections between the two countries, despite the distance. Royal Air Maroc, the only airline that offers direct flights, is the company that is most committed to these international routes. These are the following routes:
- New York – Casablanca
- Washington – Casablanca
Within the distance between both destinations, both New York and Washington are in the far east of the United States, so the flight from both cities is shorter: between 7 and 9 hours and a half, approximately. And the prices are also cheaper: in some cases, from 700€ round trip, depending on the dates.
As you can see, Casablanca – Mohammed V airport is the main gateway for these flights. For this reason, in Chic Morocco we have designed circuits starting in this Moroccan city, the largest and most important from the economic point of view.
On the other hand, if you wish to travel from other U.S. cities or to other Moroccan destinations, a stopover will be necessary. In this case, the options for the route are multiplied, since the offers of North American airlines, such as Delta, and even those of other countries, such as the French Air France, also come into play.
Adding a stopover or two to the route necessarily implies an increase in the total duration of the trip, but in many cases this does not mean an increase in the price of the ticket. On the contrary, many offers are more economical if an intermediate stopover is used, in airports as varied as Paris – Charles de Gaulle, Madrid – Barajas, Lisbon or Frankfurt, among many other options.
In any case, you should bear in mind that changes may occur in this regard: new direct routes may be inaugurated or some of the existing ones may be cancelled, so we recommend that you check all the options before choosing your route.
Visa for U.S. citizens
Another fundamental aspect when traveling to Morocco from the United States is the visa issue. And luckily for those who have U.S. citizenship, it is not necessary to formalize any type of visa, nor to request an electronic authorization through the Acces Maroc site. It will be enough to have an ordinary passport in order and with sufficient period of validity to be able to enter the country.
This is undoubtedly a measure that promotes tourism from this North American country and indicates the good bilateral diplomatic relations between Morocco and the United States. However, as with flights, this information may change depending on the social, health or security situation at any given time. Therefore, we recommend that you confirm that the visa exemption for U.S. travelers still exists for the dates of your trip.
For any other questions regarding special visas, such as service, accreditation or diplomatic visas, you can consult this official website of the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
And if you are going to organize your Morocco tour with Chic Morocco, you can also ask us any questions regarding your flight and your possible visa. Our agency does not handle these matters as part of the travel package, but if we can answer any questions, we will be happy to do so.
