Knowing what excursions are available from Agadir is useful for any traveler who arrives in this destination, as it does not have as many historical and cultural attractions as other cities in the country, mainly due to the earthquake that devastated it in the mid-twentieth century. But the leisure, cultural, and relaxation options in the surrounding area are very interesting, so in the following lines, we present some of the most popular ones that, of course, you can do with our agency.
Taghazout and other Fishing and Surfing Villages
Just 25 km to the north, you will find several charming villages on the Atlantic coast. Therefore, many excursions from Agadir feature them. Of all these villages, one of the most popular is Taghazout, where you can appreciate that characteristic mix between the old and the new, between the traditional and the modern, between the local and the international: it is a fishing village, as can be seen in the picturesque boats that rest on the shore, but in recent years it has become an attractive spot for surfers and also a chill-out destination with pleasant venues on the seafront.
Legzira, a Pristine Beach with Whimsical Shapes
Further south and further away (about 160 km) is another unforgettable corner of the Moroccan Atlantic coast: Legzira Beach, which captivates visitors with its wild and pristine forms, which have not been overshadowed by any recent human construction. In fact, its symbol is an authentic whim of nature: the
Paradise Valley, a Name that Says it All
No less pristine, wild, and beautiful is Paradise Valley, in this case located about 30 km inland, in the town of Imouzzer Ida Ou Tanane. Its name is very eloquent, as it indicates on the one hand that it is the humble course of a seasonal river or wadi, which runs encased in a canyon, chiseled with magnificent precision. And on the other hand, it evokes the truly dreamlike corners it hides, with pools of crystal-clear water and the most exotic vegetation on both banks, such as palm trees and riverside thickets. In addition, in the nearest villages, there are cooperatives and shops that claim one of the highest quality local products: honey from its honeycombs.
Tafraoute and the Painted Rocks
For the most active hikers, one of the best excursions from Agadir is that of Tafraoute and its surroundings. Located in the Anti Atlas, about 160 km from the coast, it is an environment conducive to hiking. It is because of the enormous variety of paths that run through this granite and rocky landscape of strange beauty. But also because here you can see the famous painted stones by the Belgian artist Jean Verame. Blue, red, purple, or black are some of the colors applied to the rock, which seek to create a striking contrast between the natural tones and the artificial chromatism conceived by the human being. The result does not leave anyone indifferent and has become a hallmark for the locals, who in fact have a habit of reviewing and repainting some of those stones, knowing that many curious people come here to discover them.
