Marrakech is probably the best prepared city for tourism in Morocco. And, as such, there are many plans for the whole family. In this post we tell you what you can do if you want to visit Marrakech with children and want to maintain a premium level at all times.
Family plans, in an exotic environment
A first proposal to enjoy Marrakech with children are the classic family plans that, in this exotic and different environment, acquire a special value. For example, have a picnic in the downtown parks, especially the most iconic ones, such as the Menara Gardens.
The Majorelle Garden, although it has stricter regulations because it is a paid tourist site, will also be to the liking of children. Its fascinating and colorful plants will be a sensory stimulus for the youngest members of the family.
Experiences with animals
There is no doubt that animals have a special magnetism for children. And in Marrakech, they will be close at hand for those who want them. One of the most genuine and local experiences are the dromedary rides: this noble animal so linked to desert areas is also the perfect vehicle to move around some iconic places of the city, such as the famous palm grove of Marrakech.
The horse is also another animal very present in the city and its surroundings. There are several equestrian centers where children can learn to ride or, better yet, take longer rides in interesting natural environments, such as the valleys of the north face of the Atlas Mountains.
For those who prefer the horse but in the city, there is another even more comfortable alternative: horse-drawn carriage rides. These horse-drawn carriages are widely used by tourists to stroll around the medina, where the streets are wide and suitable for this type of vehicle. This way, you will be able to admire places such as the red ramparts, the Koutoubia minaret or the Jemaa el Fna square from a slightly higher point of view than usual.
Thematic experiences
Even if you include cultural or natural activities in your travel program, if you travel to Marrakech with children you will probably have to dedicate part of your time to children and youth leisure. And luckily, in the surroundings of Marrakech there are theme parks of different types, where the little ones will have a great time.
A good example of this is Terres d’Amanar, an adventure park with zip lines, gymkhanas, forests with high walkways and other challenges that will delight children. They also organize hiking and mountain biking routes in the surroundings. It is located about 35 km south of Marrakech, in the town of Tahanaout.
And if the heat gets too hot, as it does most of the year, there’s nothing better than a nice dip in a water park. The largest and most popular in Marrakech is Oasiria, with large slides, pirate lake for non-swimming children and pools of different sizes, with jets and imaginative games.
Children’s and premium accommodations
And if you want your children to feel the magic of Marrakech from the moment they wake up until they go to bed, you can look for an accommodation specially designed for the little ones. One example is Beldi Country Club, which, in addition to the usual services of a high-level hotel, also organizes activities for the whole family to enjoy. For example, cooking workshops to prepare homemade and local bread. Or sports activities in its facilities, such as tennis or paddle tennis.
These are just some of the many proposals in Marrakech for children. If you contact us, we will take care of setting up a program tailored to your family, with all the affection that the youngest members of the family deserve, since Morocco is a country that feels special adoration for children, something that can be appreciated in the way they are treated and in the smallest detail.
