Terraces in Marrakech: an ideal plan in the late afternoon

Going to a terrace in Marrakech for a drink or even dinner is a perfect plan in the evening. And we referred to it in this post about chic experiences in the city. However, the places we mentioned in it were just a tiny sample of what Marrakech has to offer. Not only because the city has many such places, but because it is an experience increasingly in vogue among international travelers.

And given that the historic center has many rooftops that lend themselves to this type of restaurant activity, more and more entrepreneurs are adding a proposal like this, adding to the already rich offer in Marrakech. Here is a selection, organized by area, recommended by influencers and other travelers who are experts in this type of experience.

Terraces in Marrakech, neighborhood by neighborhood

Terrace bars in Marrakech are spread over different areas of the city, mainly in the historic center, both inside and outside the medina. In some cases, their views cover the whole city, in other cases only the surrounding area that, for some reason, has a special interest. And in some cases, the view takes in suburbs or even the outskirts of the city, with the High Atlas Mountains as a backdrop on clear days.

Terraces inside the medina

The historic medina, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is an intricate network of narrow streets where bazaars, monuments, religious temples, cultural buildings and riads are located. And on the rooftops of these, or in restaurants that have several floors, are located some of the most interesting terraces of the city.

Terraces near Jemaa el-Fna or outside the medina

This square, also protected by Unesco, in this case in the category of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity for its incessant life, is right in front of one of the main gates to the medina. Therefore, it is outside it, but the views of the square are most evocative, with the minaret of the Koutoubia mosque in the background and a sea of people coming and going like ants between the stalls of the market.

Terraces in the Gueliz or its surroundings

This is the most chic neighborhood of the city, concentrating in some of its streets the main fashion brands and accessories. And of course, some of the most luxurious restaurants and hotels in Marrakech. Also for this reason, the profile of these places tends to be more cosmopolitan and international, although there is everything. These are some of the terraces located on rooftops, which exude good taste and class.
